Introducing ABC 2.5!
MESSA is adding a new option to our lineup of popular ABC plans: ABC 2.5.
Our newest medical plan will be available during open enrollment this fall, subject to bargained benefits, with coverage beginning Jan. 1, 2026.
Designed to help members save on premium costs, ABC 2.5 features a higher deductible than ABC 1 and ABC 2 and offers three coinsurance levels. As with the ABC 1 plan, ABC 2.5’s deductible is subject to change each year to align with IRS adjustments.
At MESSA, we believe the people who care for our schools deserve exceptional health benefits and unmatched personal service. Our commitment is to provide you with security and peace of mind, backed by a team that’s always ready to help.

Annual Verification Process for Overage Dependents
MESSA will mail a letter to members with an overage dependent on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. In order for an overage dependent to continue insurance coverage into 2026, members must take action and verify the eligibility for their dependent who may:
- Certify with a severe physical and/or intellectual impairment, or
- Be a full-time student in 2026
The letter instructs members to go to messa.org, log in to MyMESSA, click on the Dependent Verification link and complete the online questionnaire. Based on the answers provided, our system will determine if coverage will continue into 2026 or if it will terminate. Members receive an immediate response, as well as an email for their files. The deadline to complete the online questionnaire is November 14, 2025.
On September 9, 2025 the initial report, reflecting which employees were sent a letter, will be available on the MESSA Business Administration Center.
Medical and Prescription Drug Plan Changes for 2026
MESSA strives to continue developing new plans that meet the needs of our members and the employers we serve. As new plans are implemented, some of our older plans are discontinued. The following medical and prescription drug plans will be discontinued effective December 31, 2025:
- MESSA Choices $0
- MESSA Choices $100-200
- MESSA Choices $200-400
- MESSA ABC Rx
- MESSA Saver Rx
In the event that you have one or more of these plans, we wanted to give you enough time to establish a replacement plan. You can request a replacement plan by submitting a Request for Benefit Implementation (RBI) through the Business Administration Center.
If you have any questions, please contact your MESSA Field Representative at 800-292-4910.
Hinge Health is Here for You
MESSA has partnered with Hinge Health, a digital clinic that provides virtual physical therapy. MESSA members and their dependents 18 and older can rehabilitate and get relief from their home using Hinge Health.
Members can access the free service using the Hinge Health app. The different programs help you reduce everyday joint and muscle aches, recover from an injury and relieve pelvic pain and discomfort. You will receive exercise therapy sessions that you can do in 15 minutes using the Hinge Health app. You’ll also receive one-on-one support from a physical therapist or health coach to help you reach your goals.

Services Highlight: Ask Emma
Sometimes employees need a little help figuring out which MESSA plan is right for them and their family – that’s where the Ask Emma tool can help.
Ask Emma is an animated virtual assistant MESSA can load to your online benefits website to recommend a medical plan based on information your employees provide during the enrollment process.
If you are interested in learning more about Ask Emma, contact our Benefits Administration Team at 888-888-4167 ext. 5517 or email us at messabenefitsadministration@messa.org.
