Annual verification process for overage dependents begins September 13, 2022

MESSA will soon mail a letter to members with an overage dependent. In order for an overage dependent to continue insurance coverage into 2023, members must take action and verify the eligibility for their dependent that is expected to:

  • Certify with a severe physical and/or intellectual impairment, or
  • Be a full-time student in 2023

The letter instructs members to go to messa.org, log in to MyMESSA, click on the dependent verification link and complete the online questionnaire. Based on the answers provided, our system will determine if coverage will continue into 2023 or if it will terminate. Members receive an immediate response, as well as, an email for their files. The deadline to complete the online questionnaire is November 15, 2022.

On September 13, 2022 the initial report, reflecting which employees were sent a letter, will be available on the MESSA Business Administration Center > Reports > Overage Dependent Eligibility.
