Enhanced Rates from HealthEquity
HealthEquity recently sent letters to MESSA members with HSA accounts letting them know about a new Enhanced Rates program. This program allows a member to earn more interest on their HSA cash. It is not FDIC-insured, and members are not billed for enrolling in the Enhanced Rates program. Enhanced Rates is an interest-bearing group annuity contract issued by Pacific Life Insurance or Principal Insurance. The balance placed in Enhanced Rates and interest from the program are subject to the risk of loss and are not covered by deposit insurance. Interest Rates are subject to change.
The Enhanced Rates program is now the default cash option for HealthEquity, but members are given the ability to opt out and stay in Basic Rates. If members have any questions, they should reach out to HealthEquity.
Summary of Benefits and Coverage
The updated Summary of Benefits and Coverage documents have been added to the BAC. These will also be available for employees on their MyMESSA account under Benefits.
Open Enrollment Reminders: Costs and RBIs
Costs
If you have costs that need to be updated in the online benefits website, send your MESSA Benefit and Enrollment Processor (BEP) an email at MESSAGroupAdministration@messa.org. Your BEP will reply to let you know exactly what information we need from you in order to complete this task.
Request for Benefit Implementation (RBI)
If you have Request for Benefit Implementation (RBI) changes with an effective date that is the same as your open enrollment effective date, be sure the RBI has been submitted to MESSA at least 15 days before your open enrollment. The RBI must be completed by MESSA before you create the open enrollment for your group. This is important. If you create your open enrollment before the RBI benefit changes are made, the new, changed benefits will not display or be available for your employees when making their open enrollment benefit elections.
Questions about using the Request for Benefit Implementation (RBI) tool on the MESSA business administration center? No worries, our User guide: Request for benefit implementation (RBI) will help!
If you have any questions about changing any MESSA benefits, please reach out to your MESSA field representative or contact Field Services directly at 800-292-4910.
*Please note that employers who utilize our Open Enrollment Service will have different processes. Reach out to the Benefits Administration team to verify Cost and RBI requirements.
