Introducing enhanced dental benefits for impaired dependents
Effective June 1, 2022, MESSA and Delta Dental have partnered to offer enhanced dental benefits for dependents that are physically and/or intellectually impaired. Included in these enhanced benefits are:
- Additional visits to the dentist’s office and/or consultations prior to the first treatment to help patients learn what to expect during their dental appointment.
- Up to four total dental cleanings in a benefit year.
- Treatment delivery modifications necessary for dental staff to provide oral health care for patients with sensory sensitivities, behavioral challenges, severe anxiety or other barriers to treatment. Enhanced dental benefits will automatically be made available to impaired dependents on your account on June 1. Delta Dental estimates a very minimal, future premium increase of approximately 12 cents per member (the exact cost will vary by employer). Current dental rates will not be impacted

If your group DOES NOT want to offer enhanced dental benefits to impaired dependents, you must take action before June 30, 2022, and reply to mgroupservices@messa.org with the following message:
Our group chooses to opt out of MESSA’s enhanced dental benefits for impaired dependents.
