Changes in 1095-B tax form requirements
Tax form 1095-B is generated by health insurance companies and provides proof that employees and their families had health insurance during the year.
Beginning in 2020, the government no longer requires tax form 1095-B to be filed with individual tax returns. Therefore, MESSA will no longer automatically mail the 1095-B form to your employees.
If an employee would like a copy of their 1095-B, they may submit a request as follows:
- Call MESSA Member Services at 800.336.0013
- Send a secure message via their MyMESSA account
- Mail a request to MESSA, Attn: Member Services, 1475 Kendale Blvd., P.O. Box 2560, East Lansing, MI 48826.
If you as the employer need to request a copy of an employee’s 1095-B, call MESSA Group Services at 888.888.4167, ext. 7922.
Note: Employers are still required to provide employees with tax form 1095-C.
