Annual verification process for overage dependents
MESSA will soon mail a letter to members with an overage dependent. In order for an overage dependent to continue insurance coverage into 2024, members must take action and verify the eligibility for their dependent that is expected to:
- Certify with a severe physical and/or intellectual impairment, or
- Be a full-time student in 2024
The letter instructs members to go to messa.org, log in to MyMESSA, click on the dependent verification link and complete the online questionnaire. Based on the answers provided, our system will determine if coverage will continue into 2024 or if it will terminate. Members receive an immediate response, as well as an email for their files. The deadline to complete the online questionnaire is November 15, 2023.
On September 5, 2023 the initial report, reflecting which employees will be sent a letter, became available on the MESSA Business Administration Center > Reports > Overage Dependent Eligibility.
